Ignorance is not a free pass

Ignorance does not exclude anyone from its adverse affects. If you did not see the sign that asks you to reduce your speed you can get a ticket or you were not aware that the used car you purchased has transmission problems.

Studying the bible, going to church or sitting with others for counsel is not making you the owner of a godly experience, nor does it make you a living epistle.

I remember

When I was filled with the Holy Ghost December 13, 1980 and later called to the ministry, I came across Paul's writings which says,

Php 3:6  Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

Php 3:7  But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

Php 3:8  Yea doubtless, and I count all things butloss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them butdung, that I may win Christ,

Php 3:9  And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Php 3:10  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Php 3:11  If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

This entire chapter changed my thinking about salvation. Paul was a highly educated man. He knew a lot about the history of his people and knew if Israel continue to go after other gods, they will continue to suffer. So he set out to kill all that worship Jesus. But when Jesus confronted him, afflicted him with blindness (he otherwise would have gone his way) and saved and healed him. Paul, from that day forward counted all he learned and knew as ZERO, because he realized it hindered him from knowing Jesus Christ. His desire was to allow Christ to rewrite his thinking about ALL THINGS.

Joh 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1Jn 2:27  But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

I've committed myself to Paul's thinking since I've been saved and it has bought me great rewards in Jesus Christ. Back to the subject.

Back to Fasting

The point I am making is that things will continue to happen around you if you are fasting or not. Fasting will make you more aware of the state of your body, mind and the things and people around you. Satan has already put things in place to challenge your fast, so that you do not experience the miracles outlined by God for fasting. Satan does not want you to fast because fasting God's way will answer problems of sin in the flesh. If you fast God's way it will become enjoyable and life changing for you and for those fast and pray for.

Pro 4:7  Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

To prepare yourself for the fast do the following:

  1. Do not set a goal of when the fast will end. Trust in the Lord. Believe that he will tell you when to end the fast. Living in what I call "The Fasted Life" is very rewarding.
  2. Pray and ask the Lord who should you include in the fast. Remember God's way of fasting is not about you; it's about others.
  3. Go into the fast gradually. This will prevent your body from going into shock or fighting against you.
  4. Stay in touch with the Lord constantly.
  5. Be watchful for the voice of The Lord and not Satan or the events around you. Remember your senses will grow increasingly sensitive. Reach for the voice and presence of God. STAY FOCUSED ON GOD'S VOICE until you have clarity and feel his presence.!!!
  6. Crave his presence. Labor to please him.
  7. Your intentions or thoughts should be on the moment. Looking too far ahead can create some stumbling blocks and looking BACK will keep you in your current state and struggles.
  8. Your goals should be to understand how fasting God's way works. You will be making adjustments as you hear from God. Some of his instructions may seem off. God uses simple things to destroy the wisdom of the world in us. BE OBEDIENT. Everything you do should help others, it is not about you!!!!!
  9. Read every day the following passages:

True and False Fasting

Isa 58:1  Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

Isa 58:2  Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

Isa 58:3  Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

Isa 58:4  Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.

Isa 58:5  Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

Isa 58:6  Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Isa 58:7  Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Isa 58:8  Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.

Isa 58:9  Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

Isa 58:10  And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness beas the noonday:

Isa 58:11  And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Isa 58:12  And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

Isa 58:13  If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

Isa 58:14  Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
